Another fantastic book from the same author as ‘Making Colourful …’ and ‘Creating Wire & Beaded Jewellery’. I like the jig designs and use of bone, wood, leather, stones and feathers in some of the projects. The designs are highly imaginative and are inspiring as gifts (watch-strap and keyring in particular!)and the twisted and plaited coloured wire bangles look fabulous and easy to create! This is another MUST HAVE project book for anyone who loves making jewellery and even if you’re a total beginner, all the information is supplied to get you started!

I bought this book and “Creating wire and beaded Jewellery” byt the same author at once. i have never before done any sort of jewellery craft and yet this week have made several items that are impressive for a beginner (if I do say so myself!) Linda Jones gives fantastically simple to understand instructions and her designs are both pretty and stylish.
I have given the book a four rather than a five because the styles of jewellery in the two books are quite similar and I think it could have done with a couple of slighter harder designs. I am chomping at the bit for more of a challenge than these books offer.
I would recommend this book to other beginners, it really whets your creative appetite!

I make gold & silver Celtic jewellery, so I was very interested in this book to give me some new ideas. I found it somewhat disappointing. The book is very visual with lots of colour images and everything is well explained. There is even a little history here and there about the origins of the Celtic designs. However I found the scope of the book to be very limited. Most of the designs are like those you see on the cover, consisting of simple spirals. I personally make many designs of Celtic bracelets using traditional designs of interwoven knots. There are no such Celtic knot designs in this book, so I feel the term Celtic jewellery is a little misleading.
The book is aimed perhaps more at beaders; People who make simple jewellery at home. There is no mention of silver, gold or how to solder. The designs are basically bent and shaped wire with beads added. If that’s your thing then you may get a little something from this book, but do you really need a whole book on how to wrap a spiral?

I have been making beaded jewellery for about 6 months and I saw this book in my local shop. I was lucky enough to then get it for Xmas and it is wonderful if you are starting out with wirework as it is easy to follow and very inspiring. You won’t be disappointed.
